HeartKids Queensland provides support to children, teens and young adults with CHD and their families. We are proud to have been offering help and hope to families affected by Childhood Heart Disease for the past 30 years.
HeartKids Queensland can help with information about your hospital stay, for example information on available accommodation, meals, transport and parking. In some cases we may assist families financially with some of these costs. We can also assist with information on the availability of certain hospital services such as social workers, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists.
Most valuable to our families during the critical time of surgery are our Family Support coordinators. These coordinators have experienced the affects of CHD and understand more than most what families may undergo during hospital stays.
As well as offering support to families, HeartKids aims to increase awareness in the general community and corporate sector about the high incidence of congenital heart defects and its ongoing consequences. Please contact HeartKids in your state if you are visiting one of the children’s hospitals, or if you would like some support.
