UPDATES ON LUKE

Luke

UPDATE 10th JULY 2010 - check back soon for Luke & Tarhni's wedding.

UPDATE JUNE 08 - DEC 09 -  July 09 Ken & I joined Luke in London and did some sightseeing. Luke showed us around London and also to Leeds Castle. Ken and Luke also went to the Silverstone car racing which they both thoroughly enjoyed. After 5 days in London we all flew to Scotland had 10 days touring the Scotish country side and in and out of many castles. Our highlight was staying in a castle on Loch Fyne...Minard Castle. Recommended for anyone wanting to stay there.

Luke returnd to Australia in September 08. He ahd a heart check a couple of weeks after he returned and was given a good health clearance. Luke came back to our company and began work as one of our estimators and project managers.

Dec 08 he proposed to his girlfriend Tarhni and they are to be married on 10th July 2010

UPDATE JUNE 2007 - JUNE 2008 -   Luke is now on an adventure of a lifetime at present. Last June he went with his girlfriend  to the UK on a working holiday. Luke got to visit his favouritre soccer team Arsenal stadium and went to many of their games in the time he was in London. They have been to Spain, Germany, had a white Christmas in Finland, been to Amsterdam, Ireland, Turkey and Paris.  They have been working for a bit and then holidaying. Next month Ken & I visit and take them to Scotland with us. Health wise he has been really good.

UPDATE APRIL 2007  Luke continues to do well heart health wise. He had an MRI last November and all is going well with his new valve. The right ventricle has now reduced in size and working well.

This year he is embarking on a working holiday in the UK. His girlfriend is already over there and he will join her in June. He  never feels the cold but I wonder how he will go in an English winter,

UPDATE OCT 2005 - Luke saw Dr Whight at end of September and it was decided for Luke to go to Brisbane for a MRI and stress test. The stress test showed Luke at about 85% and the MRI showed that the valve was working well, the right ventricle had reduced in size but his right ventricular function was low (something that wasn't anything to worry about at the moment but they would do another MRI mid 2006) So all in all a good report.

Luke also started a new job with our family business in Oct 05. He started as our salesman and had worked his way up to also estimate jobs and run the fit outs.

UPDATE FEB 2005 - Luke saw Dr Stafford and he confirmed that the murmur was due to the surgery and once the swelling had gone down it would only be minimal. He was to remain on his blood pressure medication. He was happy with everything. We were to see Dr Whight in April and he would monitor Luke as Dr Stafford was now retiring.

UPDATE DEC 2004 - 14th Dec Luke had his pulmonary valve replaced with a human tissue pulmonary allograft. All the family went down along with his girlfriend. Her dad had surgery the week before with the same surgeon and same hospital. Surgery went well but he had problems with high blood pressure, so they put him on meds to control it. Dr Stafford said that the valve and patch that he had put in as a child was just flapping about and definitely needed replacing. Since leaving hospital the doctors picked up a new murmur which wasn't present on the echo before leaving hospital. They are hoping it is just due to the swelling of the heart due to surgery. He will see Dr Stafford at the beginning of Feb when an echo will be done to look at the valve. Dr Whight said the tissue valves should last 5 - 10 years (hopefully 10 years). Luke is hoping to return to work 8 weeks post op which will be mid Feb. He is taking on a trainee manager position at Big W where he has worked as a casual since grade 11. He will continue his uni degree externally part time. They have been really great and said that he can start back in administration where he wont be required to lift anything. He really enjoys his work. Luke in himself is doing really well.
